Workshop ''FC DAY @ AGH''

Workshop location: AGH, Faculty of Energy and Fuels, Building D-4, Classroom 8-9.

Description
FC means Fractional Calculus which involves integral and derivative operators of non-integer order. This unclassical mathematical approach gives provides additional possibility to illustrate the complexity of processes and phenomena in nature. The main advantage of such a modelling technique is manifested by the much larger number of algebraic/numerical solutions as well as it limits the overall number of coefficients found in mathematical expressions. Thus, this reduces uncertainty in the modelling, and one expects the mathematical models to be more adequate effective and precise.
Consequently, the models are more reliable than the classical ones. The aim of the Workshop corresponds to the prior events, initiated by Technical University of Kosice, Slovakia called FC Day @ TUKE, and enhances the interdisciplinary nature of FC in science and technology. FC is also useful in the field of modelling of complex processes in nature by where it extends the application of integral and differential operators of non-integer order.
According to this background we would like to enrich mutual contacts and exchange experiences between the representatives of the scientific and industrial communities. The Workshop is composed with of four presentations by experts in FC that will masterclasses which introduce students and scientists to use the fractional operators in a whole range of scientific fields.

Confirmed speakers: Prof. Igor Podlubny, Technical University of Kosice, Slovakia, Prof. Richard Magin, University of Illinois
at Chicago, USA, Prof. Krzysztof Oprzedkiewicz, AGH, Poland, Prof. Jacek Leszczynski, AGH, Poland.
